How we treat shin splints

We assess running load, lower-leg strength and movement mechanics to identify contributing factors. Treatment combines load management, progressive strengthening and guided return to running.

Common symptoms

  • Pain along the inner shin during or after running
  • Tenderness along the shinbone
  • Pain that eases with rest but returns with activity
  • Swelling or aching in the lower leg
